Situation
LIFEbeat was founded in the early 1990s as a nonprofit organization dedicated to mobilizing the talent of the music industry in order to raise awareness and promote education of HIV/AIDS. LIFEbeat's target demographic is youths, ages 13 to 24, both male and female. The organization partners with musicians to raise money to support HIV/AIDS causes. One method is sharing in the percentage of ticket sales for LIFEbeat's sponsored concerts. LIFEbeat also uses the events to promote awareness of their message to their target demographic.
Problem
On LIFEbeat's former website, their message was masked by information about the musicians. As an alternative, they wanted their organization's mission to be the principal message, with information about the musicians supporting the message. They needed a fresh corporate identity, website and printed collateral pieces. Additionally, due to LIFEbeat's need to rapidly and frequently make changes, they need to be able to easily manage their website internally.
Solution
Enzyme Digital provided strategy, planning and analysis services for LIFEbeat through our SPA Workshop. During this process, we completed a detailed project plan, brand statement, information architecture, usability requirements and much more. Then, Enzyme Digital designed a new brand – including logo, business card, letterhead, A10 envelope and brochure – and a website that would appeal to LIFEbeat's target demographic. We programmed a wide array of features into the website including Internet chat, an AIDS service organization extranet, an interactive questionnaire, Public Service Announcement videos and much more. Additionally, the e-commerce system contains event registration and ticket sales functionality.
Results
LIFEbeat's website provides a user-friendly, interactive community and information tool that they can fully manage in-house. Our Website Management System – which is a protected, private area of the website that can be accessed through a password – saves LIFEbeat thousands of dollars per month in website updates. They started earning a return on their investment the first time they used the system, and this will continue long into the future.
